After a private welcome, you’ll collect your Ducati Multistrada and ride through vineyard-lined hills, mountain passes, and timeless countryside.

Along the way, you’ll discover the best of Italy’s food and wine regions. In Modena, you’ll taste authentic aged balsamic vinegar straight from the barrel. In Parma, you’ll visit local producers to see how world-renowned Parmigiano Reggiano and prosciutto are made. The tour continues through Tuscany’s iconic Chianti region, with its postcard-perfect scenery, world-class wines, and ancient stone villages. From Siena and Montepulciano to Pitigliano and Florence, every stop blends cultural richness with unforgettable views and incredible flavors.

Each day is thoughtfully curated to balance exhilarating rides with moments of indulgent relaxation. Exploring scenic byways and countryside vistas blended with winery visits, hands-on tastings, and long, leisurely meals; evenings unfold at stunning villas and boutique hotels where comfort, style, and fine food come together effortlessly.

Chef Luca Ciano will guide you through a culinary experience unlike any other, introducing you to artisanal producers, and sharing insights into Italy’s regional cuisines. From rustic trattorias to refined dinners, the journey will satisfy every craving for authenticity and taste.

Accommodations are hand-picked 4- and 5-star properties that reflect the beauty and elegance of each region—from stunning villas to stylish city hotels. A luggage support van ensures your comfort and ease, while a professional ride leader hosts, and support staff manage every detail, so you can focus on enjoying the ride and the experience.

We will do a meet and greet at our hotel in Monza where you will meet the crew and we will run through the program for our tour. Later, we will enjoy a traditional Italian welcome dinner that evening before a good night’s rest.

Day 2 - Tue 15 SeptMonza > Parma

The ride is relaxed and scenic, cruising through fertile plains and easy countryside that quietly fuel Italy’s food obsession. As Parma comes into view, the clues are everywhere—prosciutto, Parmigiano Reggiano, and generations of know-how—making this one of those days where the ride is great, but the reward at the end is even better.

Day 3 - Wed 16 SepParma > Bologna

The journey from Parma to Bologna connects two of Italy’s most celebrated food cities. Riding through the fertile heart of Emilia-Romagna, the landscape is shaped by dairies, vineyards, and small producers whose traditions define the region’s cuisine. As Bologna approaches, the roads lead you toward a city renowned for its rich sauces, handmade pasta, and unapologetic love of food—an ideal destination after a day immersed in the flavours of the countryside.

Day 4 - Thu 17 SepBologna loop

A highlight of the day is a guided tour of the Ducati Factory and Museum where you will witness the birth place of the Ducati brand where it has stood for 100 years. After lunch we will make a loop ride out of Bologna through the hills of Emilia-Romagna, where great roads and great food go hand in hand.

Day 5 - Fri 18 SepBologna > Chianti

It’s all about the curves today! We leave Bologna and climb into the mountains for the flowing bends of Passo della Futa. With distance to cover, we skim past the Mugello Circuit and settle into the ride as the road drops into the hills of Chianti.

Day 6 - Sat 19 SepChianti loop ride

Staying in the stunning hills of Chianti region you may be torn – do I stay or do I ride?
Today we have an easy ride loop planned followed by a legendary feast courtesy of butcher Dario Cecchini.

Day 7 - Sun 20 SepChianti > Montepulciano

Winding Tuscan backroads lead us through vineyards and olive groves, with stops to soak up the medieval magic of Monteriggioni and the iconic towers of San Gimignano. Smooth riding, big scenery and even better flavours, before rolling into Montepulciano for the afternoon.

Day 8 - Mon 21 SepMontepulciano loop

Our loop ride from Montepulciano is pure Tuscan fun. We head into quieter backroads and rolling hills with beautiful countryside. Olive groves, vineyards, and big views line the way, with just enough time off the bike to soak it all in before looping back to Montepulciano in the afternoon—ready for a great meal.

Day 9 - Tue 22 SepMontepulciano > Florence

A big, fun Tuscan ride today. We leave Montepulciano and enjoy sweeping curves, rolling hills, and classic countryside views before rolling into gorgeous Florence by mid afternoon—smiling, satisfied, and ready for great food and a well-earned drink.

Day 10 - Wed 23 SepFlorence > Santa Margharita Ligure

We’ll roll out of Florence and aim for the coast, watching the scenery go from rolling hills to salty sea air. The ride teases the Ligurian shoreline, with the dramatic cliffs of Cinque Terre along the way. By afternoon we drop into Santa Margherita Ligure, where fresh seafood, spritzes by the water, and relaxed coastal vibes take over.

Day 11 - Thu 24 SepSanta Margharita > Milan

We say goodbye to the coast and head north toward Milan, trading salty air for fast, flowing roads and one last blast on the bike. By evening we’re checking into Milan’s Navigli district—canals glowing, aperitivo in hand, and an incredible final dinner to celebrate an epic ride

How hard is the riding?

This ride is classed as – Grade 2-3: Intermediate

Although this tour is all on bitumen roads they are anything but a cruise. We will traversing switchback hairpin turns, riding narrow mountain roads with huge drops, crazy Italian traffic and all of this is on the “wrong” side of the road.

See our Track Grading System for more detailed information to help you decide if this ride is right for you.

How much motorcycle riding experience do I need to do this ride?

We expect riders on this tour to have several years riding experience – ideally two years. Although this is primarily a road tour at least some off-road riding experience may help as some roads can be much tighter and rougher than Australian roads.

For sure pillion passengers are welcome to be a part of this tour and they will find it to be an incredible experience. You will see and experience so much on the back of a motorcycle.

If you have any questions or concerns just give us a call and we are happy to have a chat about your personal experience level and whether this ride is right for you.

What is the size of the group doing this ride?

This ride will have 8 – 14 people plus 2 tour guides

We find a maximum group size of around 12 bikes is great because it allows us to take you the most spectacular and unique restaurants and hotels during our trip.

Over the days you are sure meet and talk to everyone during the ride and make some new friends.

Do you rent motorcycles for this ride?

Yes, rental bikes are included in the tour pricing. If you have access to your own motorcycle in Europe then you are welcome to bring that along and we will adjust the tour pricing accordingly.

The list of available rental bikes includes:

  • Ducati Mulitstrada V4 or V2
  • Ducati DesertX
  • BMW R1250GS or F750GS
  • Honda Africa Twin

Can I bring my own motorcycle?

Yes. This ride is primarily for riders coming from Australia and renting a motorcycle but you can your own adventure or touring motorcycle.

How do I follow the planned routes?

We provide the pre-planned routes as a .GPX file you can load into your GPS or Smartphone navigation app. We typically stick together as a group during the day though using the cornerman system to aid with navigation with a lead rider guiding the way and a sweep rider keeping the bunch together.

Trusting our tour guide to lead the way will help you relax and take in the scenery or focus on the thrill of the road rather than stressing over getting lost.

We like to allow riders to go at their own pace and choose how quick or slow they take things. Riders safety is paramount so we can be assured that everyone arrives safely at the overnight stop.

For each event we also provide printed itineraries and route sheets which include an overview map and address details of overnight accommodation stops etc.

Do I need to carry my overnight luggage on my motorcycle?

Yes. For our international road tours we typically don’t provide a luggage support vehicle so you will have to carry your own luggage on your motorcycle. Usually our rental bikes come equipped with panniers and/or top box so you can secure your gear. Please confirm your required luggage options at time of booking.

Read our Overseas Riders Prep Guide for tips on what and how to pack.

Can I bring my wheelie gear bag to carry my gear?

Yes. As our overseas tours start and finish at the same location we have the ability to leave your suitcases or wheelie gear bag at either the motorcycle rental depot or our hotel until we return at the completion of our tour. During the tour we will ask you to bring a smaller bag of around 50 litres in size to be carried in our support van.

Remember luggage weight limits at the airport though and also bear in mind you will have limited space on the bike to carry your overnight clothes and toiletries etc.

Can I ride with panniers or top box on my bike?

Yes. Typically our rental bikes come fitted with hard plastic or aluminium panniers and/or  top boxes to carry your gear. Alternatively you may decide to travel light with just a dry bag that gets strapped on but keep security in mind for when our bikes are parked.

Read our Surviving Your First European Ride  page for tips on what and how to pack.

What gear/tools do I need to carry with me during the day?

We’ve got you covered here! Our tour guide and sweep rider will carry a full set of tools and first aid gear  to deal with any small issues on the road. Typically the rental bikes will include some basics like a tyre puncture repair kit.

Do I need visas?

If you are an Australian resident you should not require a visa for the countries we are visiting. Please check the Smart Traveller website for travel requirements based on your situation.
