The DRE Adventure Academy is the riding course designed for adventure enthusiasts who want to learn all the secrets of on and off-road riding by experiencing the qualities of Ducati adventure motorcycles, in particular, the DesertX and Multistrada range.
The DRE Adventure Academy is more than just a rider training course, it’s a weekend experience to share that will give you a lifetime of knowledge and experience.
We provide the opportunity to unlock the skills and discover the secrets of the adventuring world: from the right body position, to learning the most effective riding techniques, what tools to carry and the repair of a damaged tyre.
The DRE Academy programme runs for two days with the first day dedicated to theoretical explanation and practice drills of technical exercises to gain confidence in off-road riding situations.
Dinner is included on Saturday night with a great dining experience which is a fantastic opportunity to get social with fellow Ducatisti and delve deeper into riding techniques and all things motorcycles with questions of your riding instructors and conversation around the table.
Day two of the DRE Academy includes a trail ride on public tracks and trails in the area examining off-road sections in real world terrain. This is a great opportunity to solidify the skills learnt on Day 1 and test your abilities with great support right at hand. We also make a fun day of it exploring the iconic sights in the local area.
The venues hosting us will offer private access to terrain for you to progress your skills on and each are spectacular locations in their own right. Each hotel we stay and dine at will be a unique experience, combining the pleasure of great riding on the roads & trails and the discovery of local food and wine.
The cost of the programme is $945 with lunch and dinner prepared with top quality ingredients and dinner accompanied by a selection of locally produced wines. Accommodation is available on site at an additional cost which we can book for you, or you are free to make your own arrangements.

The DRE Academy is open to any Ducati adventure travel motorcycle, including:
Yes. You must present your licence at rider sign on and it must be a suitable licence with the appropriate endorsement to ride an open class motorcycle. Learners or probationary licences not suitable.
Yes. You must wear full riding gear and we advise you to wear appropriate riding gear for off-road adventure riding:
The course is intended for riders with minimal to intermediate off-road riding experience. We do expect riders will have an good understanding and certain level of competency of riding a motorcycle on sealed roads.
Should we experience adverse weather then the off-road riding may be amended to suit the level of experience of our group.
We highly recommend every participant in the course has off-road knobby style tyres fitted – like the Pirelli Rally STR that comes standard on the DesertX or Multistrada V4 with wire spoked wheels.
More road orientated tyres like the Pirelli Scorpion Trail II lack traction if conditions are wet on unsealed surfaces. As some of our basic training drills will be done on grass road type tyres may hamper your confidence and ability to progress.
No. The terrain we are riding on should be suitable for either cast alloy or wire spoked wheels. Tyres are the more critical element here.
