This one had been bubbling away for a few years. 8 years in fact. An overland exploration worthy of the title “GREAT”.
Nick Selleck from maschine came up with the concept in 2013 but such was the scope of the project it took a further 7 years to refine the plan and launch Great Divide Ride as a ride event.
The basic concept was to travel the full length of Australia’s Great Dividing Range and ride all of the cool tracks that we have ridden over the years and link them together. watch the country change as we travel north. The dilemma was how to tackle such a continental overland trip and offer it as a tour for riders to enjoy together.
Not many adventure riders have the luxury of time or money to do the big overland trips, as much as we might dream about them. So, we made the decision to split the Great Divide Ride into three manageable stages, so that everyone can achieve something big without it impacting your work/home life too much
