Ducati Adventure Tour 2019

11-14 April 2019

Hunter Valley > Port Macquarie > Hunter Valley

Ducati adventure riders now have the opportunity to ride together and explore some great country on a fully supported exclusive Ducati adventure experience.

Ducati Australia and New Zealand, have teamed up with premium adventure tour and rider training company Maschine to deliver an off-road adventure tour specifically for Ducati customers.  Over 3 days the tour will travel north from the Hunter Valley along the Great Dividing Range into the beautiful mid-north coast region of NSW around Port Macquarie.

This region offers ideal terrain to explore on your Ducati adventure model with sweeping gravel roads, stunning vistas and valleys where the temperature drops under the canopy of trees. There will also be the occasional section of bitumen twisties to remind you of the Ducati sports heritage and just how versatile the your Ducati is.

In true Ducati style, deluxe accommodation and fine meals will be a key feature of the tour.  Selected exclusively to ensure the days riding is equalled with some great company, a few refreshments and the rest required to get the best experience possible during the following days ride.

Experienced tour operators Maschine will have your back all the way to help you complete the adventure.  Ducati and Maschine will take care of the details so you can simply relax and enjoy the experience.

We are designing this ride to suit a wide range of adventure riders.  Road or off-road?

For the road route, the regions we will cover on the Ducati Adventure Tour have some of the best tar roads you can find anywhere in the country.

For the off-road, if you have spent some time riding off-road on gravel roads you should be capable of completing this ride.  We take great care in planning the routes to make them achievable for the average rider whilst still offering a challenge and interest to capture your attention along the way.

The route will consist mainly of unsealed gravel roads through farm land and forest.  There may be some shallow water crossings but nothing much deeper than your wheel axle.  Hills will be limited to those that are easily overcome in any weather.  There will be some bitumen sections at the start and end of each day getting into town but we will also throw in a couple of fun twisty sections to mix up the flow.

If you don’t have much off-road riding experience you might find yourself out of your comfort zone a few times but we can help you get through this.  That’s the great thing about doing a group ride like the Ducati Adventure Tour, there is always someone there to help you or have a laugh with when things don’t go to plan.

We have a comprehensive route grading system which will help you understand the difficulty level on each days route.  The route will be provided to you in the daily roadbooks and clearly described each night at the briefing to assist you in preparing for the next day’s ride.

Of course weather can play a major role in our riding experience so we plan a few bug out options to get you back on bitumen if it all becomes a bit ugly!

The ride it is open to all models of Ducati Multistrada, Scrambler and Hypermotard.  Ideally you need to have a fuel range of around 300km but many of the refuel intervals will be less than that so most bikes will do the distance no problem.

The total trip will cover between 700 – 1,000km with daily distances of around 250 – 350km.  These distances may not seem too long but trust us, you will be blown away by how much awesome riding you can squeeze into 300 kilometres!

If you prefer to keep your Ducti nice and clean but are still up for a bit of exploring then the tar route will be covering some of the greatest motorcycling roads you’ll find in Australia.  Some of the famous ones we’ll be incorporating into the route are the Oxley Highway and Thunderbolts Way, and some of the lesser known gems that we have found during our years of experience organising tours.

Aside from the sensational roads our road route will also take you past some neat sights to highlight your time on the road. Country cafes serving quality food & coffee, motorcycle museum, glorious country views. You might find yourself racing back to your overnight accommodation just so you can soak up the luxury surroundings a little more!

Combined with the celebratory beverage at the end of each day’s ride with all of the other riders and new friends you’ll meet will make this long weekend one to remember.

Pillions are also most welcome, you will have the option to ride the road or off-road route, however if you are going off-road it pays to have an experienced pillion on board that is somewhat comfortable with off-road.

If you are concerned your skills aren’t quite up to scratch then consider our range of Maschine rider training courses to help prepare you for your Ducati Adventure Tour experience.

We will be offering 1 day training course the day prior to the tour as well as on-trail training during the ride – see below for details.  We also offer a full calendar of adventure training courses available throughout the year.

The Ducati Adventure Tour is aimed at owners of:

  • Multistrada range
  • Scrambler range
  • Hypermotard

If you’re opting for the off-road route, to maximise safety and increase your riding enjoyment we recommend bikes are fitted with knobby style tyres such as the Pirelli Scorpion Rally.

To navigate the route a GPX file will be provided that includes each days route.  This can be loaded into either a GPS or Smartphone with navigation app.  Maschine staff will be available to assist you in using the technology if you require assistance.

Pre-Ride Training – Thursday 11 April (9am-4:30pm)

Our pre-ride training will run on the day of arrival for the ride (Thursday 11 April).  The course is our Core Adventure Rider Training.  It’s a one day beginner level course and is ideal for anyone with little or no off-road experience and is facilitated by Nick Selleck from Maschine, a highly experienced, MA accredited off-road motorcycle coach.

It is recommended you arrive the night before to Spicers Resort if you are participating in the training.  We can arrange an extra night’s accommodation for you. Please select this option when checking out.

On-Trail Training – 12-14 April

As an exclusive addition to Ducati Adventure Tour, we’re providing you the opportunity to book in a half day, on-trail rider coaching session.  It’s a small group (up to 5) where you’ll receive lots of personal attention and work on the things you want to work on.

Nick will watch you ride and give you feedback on your technique and how you can improve.  The best part at the end of the session, you’ll be able to put your newfound skills straight into practice right there on the trail during the ride.

These sessions are no substitute for the pre-ride training course.  It is aimed at riders who have completed the pre-ride course or have some off-road experience.

Cost – $150 per session
